Gastroenterology

Gastrointestinal Surgery

With laparoscopic surgery as its core technique, the department routinely performs a wide range of advanced minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopic total gastrectomy, esophagojejunostomy (OrVil technique), laparoscopic radical resection for gastric and colorectal cancers, gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) resection, surgery for achalasia, hiatal hernia repair, laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy, transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME), NOSES procedures for colorectal tumors, and single-port thoracoscopic-assisted laparoscopic radical resection of tumors at the esophagogastric junction.
In addition, various acute abdominal conditions—such as gastrointestinal perforation, acute appendicitis, massive gastrointestinal bleeding, and intussusception—can be managed promptly with comprehensive minimally invasive treatment.
A key specialty is reduced-port laparoscopic surgery, which decreases the number of incisions by three to four compared with conventional laparoscopy, achieving an even higher level of minimally invasive care.

Colorectal & Anal Surgery

The department adopts an integrative approach combining traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine to treat anorectal diseases, including hemorrhoids, anal fistula, perianal abscess, anal fissure, rectal prolapse, functional constipation, anorectal stricture, anal eczema, and condyloma acuminatum.
Special expertise is offered in the management of complex and refractory conditions such as circumferential mixed hemorrhoids, severe perianal abscesses, complex and high anal fistulas, and rectal prolapse.

Hernia Surgery

The department routinely performs TEP and TAPP laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs, IPOM procedures, and various abdominal wall hernia repairs, as well as hiatal hernia repair and diaphragmatic hernia repair. Additional services include laparoscopic high ligation for pediatric inguinal hernia and emergency surgery for incarcerated hernias.
